Lummi Island Wild is deeply committed to sustainable fishing practices, catching most of the fish they offer and focusing on the highest quality of seafood through fat content and flavor.
The company offers a convenient subscription option via their website that can help anybody committed to health and sustainable fishing feel good about their seafood purchases.
You can order from a selection that caters to all palates: this includes fish like salmon, halibut, and sablefish to crab and other seafood delicacies.
We ordered six portions of salmon for $90, but since we didn’t qualify for free shipping, that was $80. This put the price per portion at $15, but if we’d qualified for free shipping, that would’ve gotten us a bit more fish for less cost per piece.
Lummi Island Wild strives to maintain freshness and quality throughout the shipping process, packaging each order in 100% curbside recyclable packaging using carbon neutral shipping.
Sena Sea is third on our list. They stand by the dedicated service claim that every fish is hand-caught and selected for shipment by the company owner, Rich.

It was clear that the fish from Sena Sea wasn’t from your neighborhood grocer. Rather, this fish was never farmed, sustainable, and fresh-frozen from Alaskan waters.
The company also offers customizable boxes and seafood options beyond fish.
We ordered four portions of fish for approximately $82 and paid $25 for shipping, which put the price per portion at around $20. Although the fish was delicious, that was much more per portion than the fish of comparable quality from other companies.
Why we liked Sizzlefish

Sizzlefish promotes a monthly subscription, but also allows for non-subscription orders if you purchase a full box. Either way, you’re paying for more than ten portions of seafood all at once.
We ordered a salmon assortment box that included fourteen portions for $95 and free shipping. The price per portion was just under $7, which is economical for fresh fish, but the taste wasn’t as comparable to some of the other providers. If we had ordered just the king salmon, the price would have gone up to $138 for fourteen portions, making the price per portion just under $10.
The non-marinated salmon was delicious as expected, but some of the marinades weren’t our preference, particularly the Thai curry and Korean BBQ flavors.
Rounding out our top five fresh-frozen seafood companies is Sea to Table. As we’ve seen with other providers, their responsibly-caught seafood offering extends beyond fish.

Sea to Table offers a monthly subscription plan or non-subscription purchases, similar to Sizzlefish. They boast 1-3 days for shipping, depending on where in the US you live.
We ordered two boxes and had them shipped to different locations about 30 miles away from each other in the same state. Each box that we ordered was $115 for twelve portions of fish, which comes out to not quite $10 per portion.
One box we received was cold, not frozen, but still okay to eat. The other box we received was completely thawed and spoiled, so we sought out a refund for it, which was a painless experience. It seems as though people located in the western regions of the US experience the most trouble with shipping and receiving thawed product.
